Kristyn and Steven had planned their wedding at the GORGEOUS venue of Willows Awake in Leeds, ME. Which is pretty far from the coast Maine is known for. It was only natural that their other professional photos - their engagement photos - would be best near the water! It was the best of both worlds for them. I was excited to make their dream photos come to life.

Peaks Island Wedding - Rhen and Adam - Jones Landing

I was so excited to photograph the wedding of Adam and Rhen. They traveled from Asia, along with friends and family from all over the world to Peaks Island, ME. I had just moved off Peaks Island the summer before so it was nice to get back there for the event. We will take any excuse to get back over there, so this was such a treat!

We were greeted by rainy skies when we arrived, but for some reason, it all cleared up just as it became time to walk down the aisle. I love Harborview for their unique "Aisle". It spans the garden and hill allowing everyone to take in each friend and family member who is part of the wedding party. The view here is what you sign up for, and it did not disappoint for their July wedding. The sunsets on Peaks are some of the best and we got a treat this night.

Congrats to you, Adam and Rhen. I hope you continue to have an adventurous life ahead of you!

Kayla and Chase's Wedding | Peaks Island, ME

I was so excited to photograph Kayla and Chase for their awesome wedding at the TEIA Club on Peaks Island, Maine. They carefully planned their wedding to include lots of their family and friends and were so relieved when COVID restrictions allowed them to hold their event as planned.

We moved off the island last year, so we love any reason to head back. We even brought Jamie's Tahoe (legit work truck) to escort the bride and groom to our favorite photo spots. If you are getting married on Peaks, you basically HAVE to get to the backside for ocean photos.

Funny coincidence: I had been to the rental house Kayla found before. I photographed a wedding there in 2014 - the owners of the house were using it to get ready as well. Beautiful bride Kristin is in the same spot as Kayla <3 It was so cool to be back there, and a cool reminder that I've been doing this for a while now!

I photographed little Reid when he was just a few days old... at his home, literally weeks into COVID lockdown. We took every precaution and I'm so glad we did. Being a photographer during a pandemic is hard... moments still happen in life, we don't stop having babies or having birthdays or holidays just because a pandemic is devastating the world. It is fairly easy to safely photograph families, weddings, etc because photographers naturally stay far away from clients (lenses, hello). Newborn sessions are much different. Photographers often hold, pose, dress and comfort newborns. This part isn't possible right now, which means photos look a little different from the snuggly, sleepy, posed photos we are used to. But Reid didn't want to sleep anyway, so we were good to go :)

This little man wanted nothing to do with sleep... and that's okay. Usually, babies are not used to the lights, the clicks and the shuffle of a new person moving them around. They can change from your sleepy little baby to an unknown wide-eyed baby. And that's okay!

Wedding on the Water | DiMillos in Portland Maine

When Jennifer reached out to me, I was elated. I've known Jenn for a while and met Ryan recently at their family session this past summer. The way they look at each other, or TO each other, is a lesson we should all internalize. Both parents of young children, I saw them look at each other with love and acceptance. They look to each other when one kiddo wouldn't smile, or one wanted to run. I saw them leaning on each other and I saw it instantly. It was a fun, warm summer evening and as always with kids, they want to play. But I noticed something unique... this little family all helped each other out - sister helped brother when he couldn't find the shell he wanted. Ryan helped sister step over the sticks to get to her rock. It was awesome.

So when I received the call to ask me to photograph their wedding, I was pumped! I see their love clearly... and I as you all know, I love love. Perfect fit. :)

I also love that they chose a winter wedding! This winter wedding was exactly what you'd imagine - even with some snowflakes!

I believe a venue can make or break a wedding. The coordination for an event is way more intricate and difficult than most people realize. Trusting this to just anyone can lead to guest confusion on your day, or worse trouble for you beforehand (double booking dates, not being ready on time, etc.). This venue is not only truly unique (hello, you have to take a ferry to get there!), but it's ocean-themed, wide open to the outside, and run by top-notch professionals. A Fall Wedding at The Hitching Post | Dayton, ME | Portland Wedding Photographer

It was rainy... it had threatened rain since the week prior. But when it was time for the ceremony, the clouds let up... Avery and Kyle got their outdoor ceremony atop the hill at the Hitching Post in Dayton, ME.

They each got prepared at home, with lots of family and bridal party with them.

I don't think I've seen such an awesome processional as I did at the Hitching Post. What a great way to arrive! The guests were seated at the top of the hill, complete with long benches, Fall flowers lining the aisle and lots of smiles!

As Avery approached with her Dad (and StepDad!), they walked through the door at the top of the hill, which kept her hidden while she walked up.

During the ceremony, their daughter wanted to be a bigger part of the day and insisted on being picked up to be near Mom and Dad - simply adorable!

Thank you to all of the awesome vendors that worked to make this wedding so wonderful <3
